As a salon owner with ADHD, I understand firsthand the challenges that come with trying to run a successful business while managing this Neuro-divergent diagnosis disorder.
It’s not always easy, but with the right tools and support, it is absolutely possible to thrive in this industry.
One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced is staying organized. In a salon, there are so many moving parts – appointments to manage, orders to track, inventory to keep track of, and payroll to handle. For someone with ADHD, it can be difficult to keep everything straight and stay on top of tasks. That’s additional organisational strategies, such as using a planner or scheduling system to you stay on track.
Another challenge faced is multitasking. In a salon setting, there are often multiple tasks that need to be completed simultaneously, and for someone with ADHD, it can be tough to switch between tasks quickly and efficiently. To overcome this, you can prioritise tasks and delegate responsibilities to team members. It’s not always easy, but it’s been essential for the success of my business.
Managing finances can also been challenging for a salon owner with ADHD. Maintaining accurate financial records is crucial for any business, but it can be particularly challenging for those of us with ADHD who may have difficulty paying attention to details. To manage finances effectively, it could be useful to seek the help of a financial advisor or accountant who can keep you on track.
Despite these challenges, I am proud to say that I am running a successful salon. It hasn’t always been easy, but because i’ve invested in mindset and emotional regulation tools with Mindset Magic and Miracles, and through systemising my salon, this has helped me along the way. I couldn’t have done it without being able to implement strong time saving system in my salon and without a great team around me. By working together, we have created a positive and supportive work environment that has allowed me to succeed in my business.
To any other salon owners out there who may be struggling with ADHD, I want you to know that you are not alone. It can be tough, but with the right support and strategies, you can absolutely succeed in this industry. Don’t let ADHD hold you back from achieving your dreams.
