Salon marketing ideas to get your salon to number 1 in your Town or City & Treble your Salon Takings In just 24 Months with creative Salon Marketing
In 2008, I joined Good Salon Guide. It was the first step I took in strategic marketing to turn my back street chair rental salon into number 1 in my city and one of the best in the country. Since 2011, I have gone on to win over 150 awards including British Hairdressing Business awards, Salon of the Year and marketing award finalist. I now train salon owners across the globe my exact salon marketing strategies and systems that brought me so much success in such a short time.
2 of the most powerful things you can do to get yourself to no1 & triple your turnover are
1 POSITIONING use strategies to position yourself to no1
2 BUILD LOYAL LASTING RELATIONSHIPS with your clients and prospects…if you don’t someone else will!
Here are 7 salon marketing strategies to raise your positioning and build relationships with your clients and prospects
1 Positioning: To get yourself to number 1 in your town or city, you need to know who you are. Are you a 5 star salon? Or are you 3 star with 5 star service? If you are a 5 star salon but only giving 3 star service, you are doomed and your business will not grow as fast. However, if you are a 3 star salon giving 5 star service this is a great marketing angle and your business can grow rapidly. Clients will feel like they are getting great value for money. It doesn’t matter what your award is, always use it in your salon marketing. This is the first step I took to get our strapline “Five Star Hair Care”
2 Social Media: Social media is a great way to get your salon to number 1 in your town or city. I know it’s really difficult to get fans but once you get yourself above your competitors it really helps to position yourself as number 1. Many people think the only way to gain fans is to spend a lot of money on Facebook ads but that is not the case. I got all my fans organically and it doesn’t need to be expensive. All you need is a little bit of creativity and effort. We now have over 50,000 fans on our main Facebook page. If you would like support and training, you can now access our Salon Jedi Academy Lite group for the first time ever for only $1.63 a day. This is a group that our clients usually pay a premium price for so don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity. https://academy.salonjedimarketing.com/product/salon-jedi-academy-lite-membership-with-1-two-week-trial/
3 Awards: Awards are great to position yourself at number one. Once you have won just one award, you can use it in your salon marketing. You can begin to use the phrase ‘award winning salon’ or even ‘multi-award winning salon’ if you are lucky enough to win more than one award. If you don’t win an award but you are a finalist you can also use this in your salon marketing as you can say things like ‘one of the best in the country’ or ‘voted top 5 in the country.’ Obviously you can make changes to these to tie in better with your award. This really sets you above the rest and positions you as number 1 in your area. A good way to get started is to google a list of industry awards to see if you can enter any.
4 PR: The Good Salon Guide gives you free PR so make sure you make the most of it. Make sure you let people know that you have a GSG award or any other award you have won or finalised in. Another thing you can do is build a good relationship with your local press and get to know them. You can also send collections to the GSG once you are a member and these can then be printed in magazines and featured on their website. Once this happens you can then say that your work regularly gets featured in leading industry magazines and websites.
5 Website: If you are seriously looking at attracting new clients, you definitely need a website. We have had 1840 NEW clients in 12 months, 45% of which came from our website.
Your website should have 2 purposes only
1- Sell to clients
2 – Get clients details so you can sell to at a later date
- Much of the success of your website will be based on traffic
- How much you communicate with the prospect using the WIIFM rule (what’s in it for me)
- How clear your call to action is.
I know that many of you will be thinking that it’s impossible to get your website ranked at number 1 without using google ads but i’m here to tell you that it is possible. I have never used google ads however my website is currently ranked at number 1 from just simply using targeted keywords.
6 Salon Software: Having salon software is really important for salon marketing. You can hire software for as little as £50 a month. This looks good for your salon and is also SALON GOLD when you have a database of your clients that you can market to. An example of this would be sending a text to say
‘FREE CUT TODAY for the first 5 who call for details on 014xxxxx’
Once clients start calling you, you can explain why you are running this offer. It may be that you have a new team member that you would like to introduce to your clients.
Having the power to send a message straight to your clients is gold and really positions you at number 1. This builds a really good relationship with your clients as getting this message feels more personal.
7 Communication between visits: Salon marketing is a great way to build a great relationship with your clients. This is one of the most powerful things you can do as a salon in the 21st century. One way to do this is to communicate with your clients between visits.
Direct mail is one of the best ways to communicate with your clients between each visit. Did you know that only 2% of businesses use direct mail. If you are not doing this, you are nuts. You can really build a strong relationship with your clients this way. You can use your client database to send out birthday cards with a deal that they can use that week, send out Christmas cards with vouchers to use in January, invite clients to open nights, send them exclusive offers ect. Doing this is just the beginning of building the relationship!
Now go out there and use all of these salon marketing ideas!
