On Monday, November 27th, 2023, Inverness’s renowned hairdresser, Caroline Sanderson from Ego Hair Design, achieved a remarkable milestone by being inducted into the prestigious British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame.
This esteemed honour is reserved for the crème de la crème of the hairdressing world, recognising Caroline’s outstanding talent and dedication to her craft.
Caroline’s place in the hallowed Hall of Fame is a testament to her exceptional achievements, having clinched the coveted title of Scottish Hairdresser of the Year a phenomenal three times in 2015, 2021 and 2022.
The British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional, have been celebrating the finest talent in the British hairdressing industry for 39 years. The crowning event, often likened to the ‘Oscars’ of the hairdressing world, took place at the prestigious JW Marriott Grosvenor House London. A place in the Hall of Fame is an exclusive recognition, granted only to individuals who have secured three victories in the same category at HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards. This achievement marks the pinnacle of a hairdresser’s career and requires a two-year hiatus from further competition in the same category.
The night witnessed the presentation of 19 trophies, including regional and specialist awards such as Newcomer of the Year and Session Hairdresser of the Year. The most prestigious title of the evening, HJ’s British Hairdresser of the Year*, was awarded to Cos Sakkas, Creative Director at TONI&GUY.
The star-studded event was hosted by the renowned comedian Katherine Ryan who was joined by Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, and Julian Crane, General Manager for Henkel Consumer Brands Hair Professional UK & Ireland. Guests were treated to a captivating performance by Björn Again during the ceremony.
Reflecting on Caroline’s Hall of Fame induction, Jayne Lewis-Orr commented, “Caroline’s achievement is truly well-deserved. Time and time again, she has displayed phenomenal original hair work, showcasing not only technical skill but also creative vision and an acute understanding of current trends. This recognition establishes her as one of the finest in the industry.”
Overjoyed with the award, Caroline said, “Wow what an achievement. It feels wonderful to be inducted into the Hall of Fame amongst such esteemed and talented industry peers. This just proves that hard work pays off.”
